12 Days of Christmas - Day 5

and on the 5th day of Christmas...
... on my Christmas Wishlist

Soviet Denim - .

Real People, Real Denim. That is the Soviet motto.
Well, I won't lie. I love their denims. They just fit so well and are comfortable all day. Some denims have that tendency to make you uncomfortable after wearing them for a few hours. Not these.

Oh, and guess who else wears Soviet Denims? Our very own lovely ladies from Miss South Africa. I had the lovely opportunity earlier in this year to spend the morning with Liesl Laurie (Miss South Africa 2015), Refilwe Mthimunye (1st Princess) & Ntsiki Mkhize (2nd Princess) at Soviet in Cresta. Watching them shop and try out different styles and cuts. We had such a fun day. Check out some of the pics from that day.

And so on my wishlist, I shall add the Soviet Keaton #4 Fashion Skinny Denim Jean. I have a smaller build and believe that one needs to always wear clothing that fits you properly and not too small and not too big. That is why these skinny denim's are perfect as they actually fit so well on me.

#SAFW - JJ Schoeman

When you hear the name JJ Schoeman, you probably think of glitzy red carpet dresses worn by celebrities and high profile business women around the globe. So when I sat down before his #AW16 collection was to take to the runway at #SAFW, I was expecting mostly glamarous ballgowns studded with beading. Well, lets just say that what I was expecting, is not what came down the runway.

JJ Schoeman proved that simplicity is the key to a very successful collection. This range was completed with a monochromatic palate of greys, blacks and neutrals.

Trend Analyst Nicola Cooper (one smart lady that really knows her stuff) spotted these coming trends before they hit the runway. The 'glocal' interpretations that she spoke about on the FashionLabAF radio show during her trend report. Coats & Cloaks in Mono Moods are pretty evident in JJ Schoeman's #AW16 collection as seen below.

Oh! Something that I really liked, was that all the models had the exact same hairstyle, done up by hairstylist Wesley Gordon. This one constant element ensured that you are not distracted by the models' hair and stay focused on his elegant and sophisticated garments on the runway.

A general trend that I did see in many of the #AW16 collections on the #SAFW runway was the women's wear designers using a lot of black in their collections as seen here in JJ Schoeman's chic range, adding some darker shades to the runway. Black Leather. Black Lace. Black Velvet. All of these made their way down the runway at some point over the course of #SAFW.

And what is a JJ Schoeman show without the glitz and glam. His range ended with this stunning slim evening gown complete with all the sparkle and a extravagant head piece.

#SovietPremium

SOVIET
Because Real People wear Real Denim...

The Soviet Group have moved into a newer and much trendier look and feel. The #SovietPremium movement has started. The 1st store to get a brand new look was the Cresta Shopping Centre store. We got the lowdown on the event and who was there. Check this out.

When you walk into the store, you just the feel that this newly renovated space is modern and trendy. Its a store that you want to be in.

This space is filled with textures, colours and moods.
The walls.
The floor.
The roof.
Everything is so different, yet works so well together.

The beautiful ladies from Miss South Africa couldn't resist and I caught them snapping a #Selfie in one of the mirrors that have been ever so strategically placed on the ceiling.

I spotted a few items in store that I consider to be must haves. Or actually just a few things I really liked and wish I could have in my own wardrobe.

Lots of leather and denim. As far back as what I can remember, denim is that one fabric that has just always been there. It is a timeless classic and I think that #Soviet is finding new ways to incorporate denim in fashion.

The #SovietPremium store in Cresta has its own Kiddies section. So there is no excuse, and even the lil ones can by seen styling in a #Soviet denim.

I have this obsession.
Shoes.
It's really an addiction and I just loved these #Soviet kicks.

Check out who graced the black carpet at the opening of the Soviet Denim #SovietPremium store in Cresta Shopping Centre.

From the pics you guys can see that there was a definite variety of familiar faces in the entertainment and fashion industries at the event. This is something that you don't usually experience. Most of the times one tends to see the same regular faces at all the events. This just goes to show that Soviet Denim is a brand that is for everyone. And that fashion is for everyone and not just for the people that are more fashion forward.

Wait.
That guy looks rather familiar.
I think I have seen him before.

And then I turn to my left and his face is on the wall!

Sean Tucker is not only a pretty face and model. At the #SovietPremium launch Sean was playing DJ and providing all the guests with some good tunes whilst enjoying the evening.

I never let a photo op go by. It was at the #SovietPremium launch that I got to chat with Miss South Africa 2015, Liesl Laurie. She is such fun and even though the 5 minutes we chatted and joked around, it felt as if we were great friends enjoying the evening out.

Congratulations must go to Leon & Leon from Infinite PR. I do believe that these guys are the best at what they do. You guys did a great job with the Soviet Denim #SovietPremium Cresta store launch!
