#SAFW - JJ Schoeman

When you hear the name JJ Schoeman, you probably think of glitzy red carpet dresses worn by celebrities and high profile business women around the globe. So when I sat down before his #AW16 collection was to take to the runway at #SAFW, I was expecting mostly glamarous ballgowns studded with beading. Well, lets just say that what I was expecting, is not what came down the runway. 

JJ Schoeman proved that simplicity is the key to a very successful collection. This range was completed with a monochromatic palate of greys, blacks and neutrals.

 

 

 

   

Trend Analyst Nicola Cooper (one smart lady that really knows her stuff) spotted these coming trends before they hit the runway. The 'glocal' interpretations that she spoke about on the FashionLabAF radio show during her trend report. Coats & Cloaks in Mono Moods are pretty evident in JJ Schoeman's #AW16 collection as seen below.

 

Oh! Something that I really liked, was that all the models had the exact same hairstyle, done up by hairstylist Wesley Gordon. This one constant element ensured that you are not distracted by the models' hair and stay focused on his elegant and sophisticated garments on the runway.

 

 

A general trend that I did see in many of the #AW16 collections on the #SAFW runway was the women's wear designers using a lot of black in their collections as seen here in JJ Schoeman's chic range, adding some darker shades to the runway. Black Leather. Black Lace. Black Velvet. All of these made their way down the runway at some point over the course of #SAFW.

 

And what is a JJ Schoeman show without the glitz and glam. His range ended with this stunning slim evening gown complete with all the sparkle and a extravagant head piece.

#PinterestPickOfTheWeek - 07/09/2015

So I recently acquired a new item of clothing which I have always been skeptical about owing. Lets just say, from now on I will be owning my new denim jacket. So here is this weeks #PinterestPickOfTheWeek aka #PPOTW for some of my favourite ideas on how to rock your denim jackets.

Sneakers! Sneakers go so well with denims, personally my favourite sneakers are a pair of Soviet high tops!

Not entirely a denim jacket, but more denim on denim. And it is okay. Break the denim lines with a belt and
paired with a good pair of sneakers it always looks good.

I only now realised that majority of my picks this week all have been paired with a plain white shirt. It most definitely adds a crisp fresh look and contrasts nicely against the blue denim.

Just had to say that one can pair different colour denim together too without it looking like a Christmas Tree!

The Boots. The Shirt. The Belt. Everything just fits so well.

The hat!! It is most definitely one of my favourite new accessories. Adds some different texture to your look. 

More accessories. It is a known fact that browns usually go well with denim as they compliment each other rather well. Grab a leather bag and finish off your look with a pair of original ray ban aviators.

The VMA's just took place and so with that in mind... here are our #PinterestPickOfTheWeek aka #PPOTW of the gents that graced the crowds as we look into what and who they wore.

Nick Jonas - Clad in Versace Leather & More Versace Leather

Justin Bieber - Blurring gender lines with the new androgynous hairstyle. Ripped Saint Lauren jeans and Cowboy boots. 

Nash Grier - decided on a rather interest oceanic scene with dolphins. But it was his hat that we liked a whole lot more.

Jared Leto - rocking pink hair and polka dots on the VMA stage.

Brooklyn Beckham - Wait... What? When did this happen? Sporting a Ralph Lauren jacket and keeping it casual with skinny jeans and trainers.

Austin Butler - playing it cool in this formal suit whilst letting his hair down.

Shawn Mendes - embraces some slimming black pieces & leather jacket.

Nathaniel Buzolic - opting for a more casual look with this T-Shirt and neutral brushed leather boots.

Travis Mills - coloured leather jackets & black. We love those boots! 

Matt Cutshall - matching the accessories, shoes and tie are on point. 

Jussie Smollett - brave and bold and standing out in this speckled print suit.

Men's Fragrance Bar in Sandton City

So every man loves to smell good! I am sure that everyone will agree with me on that.
Stuttafords in Sandton City now boasts what we call a 'Men's Fragrance Bar' where gents are able to explore and experience new 'male only' scents without their sense of smell being tricked by the hundreds of feminine fragrances in the air. (I always hate it when you get a nostril full of some exotic fruity perfume.)
