"Fashion for the Future" - Fashion Academy Network, a.k.a FAN is here.
The Rosebank based Premier Fashion Academy & College only accepts a limited amount of students, ensuring guaranteed, focused personal attention. FAN will provide an environment that is conducive to deliver fashion professionals & research specialists who are capable of not only product development, but also fashion merchandising & marketing on an international level.
As part of their training, they will also be given valuable skills in the retail sector, as they will run & manage the FAN retail store. All business elements will teach them to sell their own designs & providing them with exposure to build up a client base for their own labels. And even better, an added bonus, these students are able to sell their garments at the FAN retail store after they have completed their studies.
Who better than some of the country's top fashion experts to impart their knowledge to the next generation of designers who will soon be telling us what to wear?
The team of Directors that will be heading up FAN, consist of these guys & together hold over 80 years of experience:
Dr Braam Krüger (Academic Head) - with 35 years' experience in fashion education on a tertiary level whilst holding a doctorate in the field of textiles & fashion.
Kgomotso Moloantoa (Marketing) - fashion model & the 1st African to be chosen as the face of L'Oreal, turned fashion editor for True Love Magazine & "O" (btw, that's the Oprah Winfrey mag.)
Julian Smith (Registrar) - one of SA's most iconic fashion designers who has built a luxury brand sold in exclusive boutiques & abroad. Even royals have been spotted in his evening gowns & bridal wear.
The Top 4, 2nd year students will be afforded a life changing experience, where they are taken to draw inspiration from the the fashion capital that is New York. Hoping that this will give them insight into designing their own collection in their 3rd year of studies that will be showcased at Fashion Week.
