Nothing but a Speedo

We hope that Johannesburg is ready to see thousands of men take to the streets in nothing but a Speedo whilst participating in the annual Hollard Daredevil Run on 30 January 2015.

The aim of the entire project is to raise awareness around the cancers affecting men and raising funds for cancer screenings and awareness programmes in the disadvantaged communities of our country. The run started way back in 2009 where only one brave man took to streets of Johannesburg, clad in only a Speedo and jogged through the peak hour traffic. It is from this day that the Daredevil Run has grown from strength to strength year on year.

This year will be the 6th time that thousands of Speedo clad men will be in the peak hour traffic starting off at the Zoo Lake Sports Club. This is where men and boys of all ages, shapes, sizes, colour and creed will start the daring 5 km jog on the summers afternoon of 30 January 2015.

Only men are allowed to run in the actual Daredevil Run. However all wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, grans and aunts are invited to get involved and put your man in a Speedo and join in on the festivities on the actual day of the event.

The more Daredevils that are seen running on the day, the greater the impact will be.

So now... Go on and sign up! The entry fee is only R150.00 per person and this includes your purple Speedo for the Daredevil Run.

Click here, follow the prompts, pay your entry fee and join the Daredevil Brotherhood!

All Speedo's are to be collected prior the the actual run at the Hollard Campus - 22 Oxford Road, Parktown, and no entries or registrations will be accepted on the day of the run. (So go register NOW!)

Every year, Daredevils and Daredevil supporters make donations which are put towards the efforts of the fight against cancer. This year, the PSA (Prostrate-Specific Antigen) testing and cancer awareness programmes to push the message that early detection saves lives.

Kick it for a Cause

Balls for Brovember, its not just all about the Mo' this month...

"I know the importance of early detection." - Those are the words of Cancer survivor Mark Pilgrim. The Ambassador of More Balls than Most Cancer Foundation (MBTM) says that ''one sometimes only realises the importance after you have been touched."

Sorbet Man has kicked off a new initiative entitled Balls for Brovember. On 29 November 2014, Siv Ngesi, Tumisho Masha, Mark Fish and Gordon Gilbert will be heading down to Discovery Soccer Park in Jo'burg for the very 1st Balls for Brovember Action Football Tournament to raise funds for and increase awareness of prostrate and testicular cancer.

"Men tend to be proud and sometimes ignorant, but the fact is, ignorance can cost you your life." says Mark Pilgrim on the topic of prostrate and testicular cancer. He continues to say that: "Initiatives like this, help create awareness and much needed funds to causes like MBTM, to drive the message that early detection saves lives."

Teams of 8 Players...
32 Teams...
And loads of giveaways, with the ultimate prize being a return trip for 2 to New York City.

Sounding like its a day for everyone. Sorbet Man Marketing Manager encourages everyone to join in on the day. Friends, family and everyone else are welcome to come down and 'Kick it for a Cause.'
Interested in getting out on the field on that day? Get a team of 8 guys together and a once off entry fee of R1,500.00 per team secures your spot for the day. And a bonus is, proceeds of your entries are donated to MBTM. To enter a team, visit the Sorbet Man tab at www.sorbet.co.za or drop an email to events@sorbet.co.za

Now if you have not done your good deed for the month yet. I suggest you think about getting in on the action. And even if you can't participate in the festivities that day, I urge you to make a donation for the cause and help us raise awareness and funds for those who need it most.

If you are feeling that urge & need to make that donation (which I'm hoping is strong):
