#WineRoutingWithLloyd - Hermanuspietersfontein

About 50km from the most southern tip of South Africa, lies Hermanuspietersfontein. (I know, that is quite the mouthful of a name. But I promise their wine makes up for it.)

If you are not up for the drive into the mountains, then you definitely need to pop into their tasting room that is so accessible, that you've probably driven right past it when in Hermanus.

You simply have to experience a #BloosMoment when tasting at Hermanuspietersfontein. The Bloos - aka The Shy Girl with the long legs with nothing to be shy about. A Bordeaux varietal Rosè. Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon & Cabernet Franc. Beautiful Salmon Pink in colour with a slight coral blue shading as they would put it. On the nose you get a whiff of ripe strawberries with cream & fresh red fruits. This follows through on the palate with a nice well rounded freshness with a bit of complexity that gives it that perfect character.

My personal favourite. The Hermanuspietersfontein Swartskaap. Just like the black sheep of the family, the one who doesn't always fit in. Being completely different, developing it's own style & character. This 100% Cabernet Franc has beautiful spices on the nose accompanied by fynbos & black olives, which follow through nicely on the palate actually. In colour, a brilliant ruby red will fill your glass as you swirl it around. Silky & Velvety, yet complex on the palate. A very nice medium bodied wine to enjoy.
